China Manufacturing Data Show Mixed Picture

BEIJING?Two gauges of China's manufacturing sector gave a decidedly mixed picture for March, as an official measurement showed unexpected strength while a rival index by HSBC Holdings PLC pointed to further weakness.

The data disclosed Sunday showed that the world's second-largest economy is still struggling with the twin burdens of global sluggishness and a weak domestic property sector.
