Mom Knows It All. - New Jersey Mom blogger on family, product ...

Jetsons Rosie

Did you ever watch The Jetsons? I used to love that show. Ever since I first saw the show as a child, I thought it would be cool to have a Rosie. I wasn?t messy or anything growing up, I just thought that the whole idea of a robot maid was neat. Now that I?m a Mom who frequently finds there aren?t enough hours in the day, I bet that Rosie would be particularly invaluable to have around. Especially when I consider my sixteen year old son.

Take food, for instance. Or in his case, more specifically, food storage. He doesn?t seem to have any clue what it is, despite the fact that he?s been told over and over. He sometimes snacks in his room while playing a game or watching television before bed. I?ve told him that when he?s done he needs to bring any remaining food out to the kitchen and pay attention to proper food storage, so that the food stays fresh and we don?t run into any unpleasant issues such as spoilage and smell. Does he listen? No! I can go in his room on almost any given morning and find a dirty cup or plate, and an open bag of chips. In other words, a mess. He asked me recently if he could have a mini-fridge in his room, so that he wouldn?t have to get up to get more water during the late-night video games he plays during the weekend. I told him absolutely not, seeing as he doesn?t even manage to keep the room near with just one water at a time.

And the garbage can. He never empties it unless I haunt him. It?s a little bedroom wastebasket, something like 8 or 10 quarts in size. It isn?t unheard of for me to find it starting to overflow! I tell him he can?t let it get that full and he actually asked me with a straight face if I would get him a bigger one. Again I told him no.

I?d love to have a Rosie to help me keep things neat and straight. Would you like to have a Rosie?
